Businesses and NGO’s of all sizes and sectors can play a much more collaborative, beneficial and inclusive role in shaping future civil society at local, more directly meaningful levels, than at present.

The opportunities here for true citizen inclusion, engagement and participation – as a third partner – are huge. The question is how to bring all these parties together, with government, to make good stuff happen.

As a citizen with considerable experience of corporates, NGO’s and government, I think that this whole area should have a much deeper, less partisan focus. It needs to be taken very seriously. I’ll write a fuller piece on this point very soon.

In the meantime… For those with a strong constitution or a Friday afternoon drink, read the UK Governments Civil Society Strategy, published in August 2018. It’s a start.

This article highlights a really important future strategic and tactical issue for corporates and Non Governmental Organisations.
